Its misleading to believe that you have to work out for a long period of time to reap the benefits of a good work out. Actually, the American Heart Association recommends that adults receive 30 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity, five days a week. At first glance, this may seem like a lot, but if you consider the amount of time you spend shoveling snow or walking to work, 30 minutes five days a week is definitely doable. Furthermore, there are many high intensity exercises that you can do that burn a ton of calories in a short period of time, including, spinning, running, and rowing.

Try adding a new workout to your normal routine every two weeks, just to keep things interesting. This could mean buying a new DVD for an exercise you've never tried before such as Ballroom Cardio Dancing or Tae Bo.

4-Think Friends and Family

Most importantly, its essential to have a support system. Sometimes you'll be so busy that you just think you don't have the time to spend even a half hour in the gym. But if you have a workout partner, someone who is relying on you and expecting you to show up, then you will.
